So I had been thinking of buying this kit for awhile a few months back, after watching a couple of build videos on YouTube about this particular vehicle.Β  Finally bought it through BNA Models out of Australia, as its hard to find this model over here. I highly recommend BNA! This is the first Bronco model kit I've built. I do have their American WW2 M24 Chaffee in my stash and will eventually build in the future.

But I digress; the Ram II 🐏, a Canadian built vehicle using the Medium tank chassis is indeed a fascinating tank. If im correct, some were converted into Personnel carriers and even maintenance recovery vehicles .

I'm going to build straight out of the box and as you see from the pictures, construction is almost complete. One thing I prefer when building an M4 style of vehicle, is to completely build the bogie assemblies without the road wheels. Those get added later after painting with a paint mask, and then I nip part of the axels leaving small nubs, just enough to hold the roadwheels in place. All my kits are usually built in sub assemblies for easy painting.Β

There is an ample amount of photoetch, and some very delicate pieces, especially the light guards. The construction was pretty easy, but you have to pay close attention to the instructions and have some photo reference of the actual vehicle, handy.

I've heard some complaints about this kit, mostly a couple of inaccuracies, which I'm not sure about myself.Β

Here's whats completed so far.

Thanks for looking!

So on Saturday did some work on the Ram II. Was having some issues with my airbrushes😒(yeah both of them. Very agrivating to say the least.Β

Gave them a good cleaning today and repainted the Ram, using Mig British SCC 2 Field Drab, which can best be described as brown. Did some fading on the paint, lightening the color with flat white.Β

I did not care for the tracks on this kit, so I replaced them with Panda Plastics WE 210 worn tracks, that i scavenged from my Takom Grant kit. I'll buy another set for the Grant later. The tracks fit this kit perfectly, as I did a test fit. Probably paint and weather them on Monday. Decals were added and set.

Thats about it for now.Β

Have a look.

It is a very odd looking tank. Researched it some more and some did see limited action.Β

Found this website/blog. This guy does great work. He has a list of builds (alphabetical) that have been completed. Here's his Ram Tank link. Beautiful work!

Did some workΒ  yesterday/today on the Ram tank.

Got the tracks fitted and painted. I highly recommend the Panda Plastics tracks sets. Easier than magic tracks in my opinion and some of those other track kits. I really don't need 10 parts,Β  loaded with many areas to sand down, to make a set of tracks.

Painted up and added some stowage courtesy of Value Gear, Bronco, and Resicast.Β

Here take a look. Will probably finish this weekend and start work on a shelf queen I've been working on forever. 1/35th Dragon M4A1 76(W) .

And....I'm...calling this done.

Nice kit; I can't recommend it for a beginner, but if you get a few kits under your belt, have at it. Didnt like the multipart tracks so I used some aftermarket ones from Panda Plastics. Stowage is aftermarket, from a variety of vendors, ie, Resicast, Bronco, Miniart, Dragon, and Value Gear. 1919 barrels were from Master Model.Β

Used a variety of products to weather the vehicle. Life Color, Mig, Wilder, Mr. Hobby, Ak Interactive, 502 Abtielung and Ammo by Mig products were used.

Sealed it off with some Ammo by Mig Ultra Matt in various areas.

Have a look. Let me know what ya think.Β

Next up, finishing up the Dragon 1/35th Models M4A1 76 (W) Sherman.
